What kind of hardware are people playing EvE on, and does your rig handle CQ at all well?
I've noticed mine heating up quite rapidly as soon as i load CQ but have never had lag or any real issues beyond that.

Case and super details don't matter. Not super E peen, but don't feel like dropping 3-5k on system.
I have Salvaging IV trained and pulled my case and PSU out of a skip a few months ago.
Why anyone would throw out -ú350 worth of kit is beyond comprehension but hey. Needed some jury rigging (V) to get everything cleaned up and working but its a sweet case and decent PSU so I'm not complaining! |

Which you dont need some uber case spewing LEDs to properly cool important components. Which is why I dont think a case is really all that important to mention. then you obviously haven't looked at the higher quality cases out there. take a look at my case, it doesn't have lights, or a massive ungodly window. it's designed for airflow and keeping your case clean. what you're talking about are the unfortunately popular "gamer cases" that tote those features. You could have the most busted ass case ever, and still have better cooling than "an uber sleek airflow awesome tastic" one. Add liquid cooling. Or have no case at all and dump it in mineral oil. Or just have a mother board PSU lying on a table with a floor fan on it. Or! Have "an uber sleek airflow awesome tastic" case and just have less fans, fans in sill places, wrong sizes, or bad quality. You could even set the fan speeds wrong in bios configuration. Or make your own case. (Matter of fact heat sinks on the GPU, and CPU would have more impact on performance than case selection ever would. Cooling and cases do not always go hand in hand. Cases only impact performance so much. (We're talking less than 10% here) The meat and potatoes are in the actual components. Cases really don't matter.
Wat
No really. A high end case can make a huge difference, although to be fair i never believed it myself until i got my silverstone.
While i never paid for it, the lesson it taught me is that quality counts - something i already knew from power supplies but never considered with cases.
I had a water cooling setup. A decent one. But i was sitting with temps in the mid fifties at idle and it sounded like a fishtank.
When i swapped to this silverstone case my temps dropped to low thirties idle and i've yet to see them climb past seventy under full benchmark loads. A 40% improvement at least and it's quieter than the water kit.
PSU makes a difference as well. A low quality psu will be made with cheaper componants and low quality capacitors - which will be prone to failling. Power load is often much lower on a cheap psu too so even if it claims to be a high wattage, the amps per rail can be low. Overload a rail and poof, time for a new psu, assuming it didnt also kill your motherboard.
I dont go in for fancy lcd's, the only ones i have are power and hdd activity, and my heatsink fan has ones built in that i cant switch off. Oh and a power light on my motherboard. Decoration is irrelevent really. Although i did paint my name in aurek besh down the side of my case because i am a nerd.

Palit are a pretty decent brand. Not common but I have looked at them in the past and they do reasonable kit. |
